Horizon Forbidden West - Melee Pits - Jump off and shoot Challenge As someone's earlier post described, the Melee Pit challenges can be some of the most frustrating content in Forbidden West. I gave up on the melee combo challenges for a few days, out of pure rage. I finally completed the challenges about an hour ago, and wrote some notes in hopes that they help other frustrated players. And the only satisfying part about finishing them is that they're over. The measly spear upgrade at the very end feels so off after going through all of that. You can cheese the melee pits. You can lay traps in the pit before you talk to the pit master. Those traps remain when the fight starts.Breaking the shield. Do a block breaker combo to stagger him, then follow up with a charged strong attack. Repeat this until your spear turns blue and then do the R1+ hold R2 combo to apply resonator blast and jump away.
