2011 Accord V-6 Stuck in Park. So my wife has a V6 2011 Honda Accord, and it regularly gets stuck in park. We have found that pushing the break pedal to the left while we depress it, will allow us to shift out of park. We recently found out that my wifes break lights are not always engaging when we press the pedal, so I think it is related.
1 Answer. It is not your brake lights that are keeping you from getting out of park. There is a pressure switch located under the brake pedal that when the brake is depressed will open the circuit to unlock the gear shifter. Some are compressed as well depending on the manufacturer.
